ABOUT THE BOOK

NO SUCH NOVEL HAS BEEN WRITTEN!
THE GAME OF THE ANGELS is a story about princess Milica. A only one woman who ruled Serbia throughout  ten centuries of its history.
THE GAME OF THE ANGELS is a testimony to the battle of women to survive, despite all odds. To fight for her children and their heritage. To convert defeat into triumph.
THE GAME OF THE ANGELS is a book containing evidence of the triumph of life over death. Survival over destruction. Of wisdom and power in time of weakness and naivety.
Milica's Guardian Angel, as any other man's Angels would, was watching over her. And Archangels: Michael. Gabriel. Rafael. Salatil. Eguidil. Uril. Varahil. They are now revealing to us the saga of her life, exciting but moving. True, yet much likening it to a fairytale. How do Angels, as God's servants, affect our lives? How are they a part of our everyday lives and enter our dreams? What is free will? Does free will even exist? What in life is given to us before hand, what is chosen? What, when and how can we choose? Where are the limits of our choices?
Does man choose? Or is he submissive? That what man believes is choice: is it truly or is it just the GAME OF THE ANGELS?

REVIEWS – ABSTRACTS

While I was reading a novel „Game of the Angels“ I felt sadness beacuse we, in Russia, do not have a writer who would write in a similar way about Russian history.

(Alexandra Dobrocvetova, Editor in Chief, Palomnik, Moscow)

This is a well-composed novel, unique structure, beautiful language, complex characters and narrative procedures. It's a novel, in the spirit of current artistic trends, based on the document, literature, literary templates as well as based on playing with them ...
The author has written a good book.

(Dushica Potic)

By refined novelist  intuition, the authoress, in  discovering  trail,  follows a deep flows and in a  mirror of parallel destinies,  registers -   in a code of a national history and a women's biography – a  women drama, people drama, and drama of that time, by the hand guided with divine providence, with  calm print on endless  canvas, weaves a certificate of persistence.

(Milica Kralj, Podgorica)

The novel was written in cultured handwriting, in a style with a recognizable restraint and exuberance. While Jefimija needle worked,  with a golden wire,  a Prise to prince Lazar, Ljiljana Habjanovic Djurovic wrote, with golden pen, a saga of Princess Milica, who walked in darkness, but she wore a light in her soul.

(Nikola Vukolic, Banja Luka)

Practically, there is no line in this book, that does not touch some national trauma, behind which stands a tacit mythology. And there is even a greater mastery of the writer - to go through all this for the first time, with the freshness and purity of imagination, with the rhetorical elegance that captures and totally overwhelmed the readers ...
I would also point out, the purity and precision of language of the writer. Her style register comes sometimes near to the pathetic, but quickly retreated, and  I think, due to her  feeling for the Serbian language, which is deep and lofty, but not pathetic.

(Zelidrag Nikchevic)

QUOTE FROM THE BOOK

It was a one thousand three hundred thirty-fifth year of the Lord. The smell of matured grapes on the slopes of river Bogdanja,  was mixing with the roar of rivers Lugomir and Gruzha, reaching to the shores of two rivers of Morava.
Just arriving in that area,  I joined those who have come to see and bestow master's daughter, and those who have  filled a large hall of the tower in a  Zhupanjevac city. What a  scene it was! Stylish, exciting, flare! It seamed  like that  even to me, being used to luxury, grandeur and beauty. Really,  really I say to you, the moment of that girl's baptism  looked like the beginning of the fairy tale.
Ladies were laughing like silver bells and busily fighting each other over the best words to praise her character, the fragile harmony of the body and just shaded  smile. Gently and softly, they followed  every move of her, sleepy and slow, every blink of pink lids, searching for some meaning. The knights, tuched and serious at the same time, were whispering about the most important: the thin, sharp smal nous of Master`s doughter and about  her blue eyes, as indelible mark of the ancestors. A pride and joy have ornated  their story.
Danilo II, a noble and Mt. Athos ascetic,  a holy Archbishop of all Serbian and Littoral teritories, took her by both hands, carefully and slowly. He soaked her three times into a  water, the bath of baptism, to washed away  all the groundz of  a successional and original sin. Then he put her a white shirt on,  cut in fine lace and silk damask, and nuns from Zhupanjevac sang the „Many Years“.  Sweet, as a chorus of Cherubs.
While he did sacred ritual, and later, when he handed over to the Godfather  that little girl, born again to eternal life, Danilo was constantly staring at her face. He looked at her even after she  decorated gentle hands of her mother. "Only one who sees more, looks that way, who knows more than others", I thought. Once upon a time,  in the day that the faithful shall never forget, the old man Simeon,  in the temple of Jerusalem, looked at the Divine Child of  Jesus.
"Your heart will stab the sword of pain!" said to His mother, trembling and pale.
Danilo was silent. His pensive look and a tear in his eye, was noticed just by  me. By me, the  invisible and inaudible one on  the congregation, selected to be present by the reputation and background. Neither she didn`t notice me. She did not even grasped my presence. And only me will stay with her throughout of  all her life. To look after and protect her. From others. And from herself too, because human need that kind of protection the most. But it was a secret for a  future,  known just to me. And, of course, to God. Because Lord knows all  what happened, what is going to and what will happen. And I was appointed to be her guardian Angel.
