ABOUT THE BOOK

A RADIANT GLEAM IN THE EYE OF STAR is a novel about the power of faith. About the creativity and sacrifice. About the gifts of the Holy Spirit. About the invisible light icon. About the women who changed the history of the glorious Byzantine Empire and history of the Christianity. About the victory of orthodoxy.

The heroines of the novel A RADIANT GLEAM IN THE EYE OF STAR are three extraordinary women. They lived in a time when churches were not houses of God. When churches looked like vegetable gardens and coops. When, at the behest of emperors and patriarchs, admiration of icons declared as heresy. When the icons were desecrated and publicly destroyed, and those who respect them were persecuted.
Irina and Teodora were Byzantine Empresses.  They loved the icons, and fought for the return of respect for icons, each in its power and nature.

Lilia was the iconographer. She didn't gave up her sublime art not even when many painters threw away  the God's gift so that they could receive imperial gifts. Not even when the icon painting become forbidden. She knew that “the  whole world wouldn't mean anything to a man if  he hurts his own soul”. She remained faithful to herself,  gazing into the radiant gleam in the eye of the star that never sets.

How does the Holy Spirit inspire and fulfil us? Why do we celebrate  the first week of the Eastern fasting as the Week of the Orthodox victory? How does the invisible, through the icon, touches us the visible? What can a mother, who loves her son more than her own soul, do? Where are the boundaries of faith?  What is the measure for love? Where is the basis of all we hope to? How can we be prepared for the Eight day? The answers even to this questions offers the novel A RADIANT GLEAM IN THE EYE OF STAR.
